Probably been tried and discussed here many times before, but does anyone have a method or recipe for curing them like eggs for later use? Thanks!

I don't use them anymore but when I did we used to just freeze them without cure. They turn out a lot softer but still useable. I have heard of people boraxing them and even dying them too.

I have chopped them up, tied them in spawn sacks, immersed them in shrimp oil and froze them. They work as well as fresh shrimp from my experience. It takes some work but the spawn sacks stay on for as long as you want to throw them.

I've asked this same question before and got several replies. All of which state that it can't be done, that curing sand shrimp is a waste of time, and it will do nothing but stink up your fridge.

But I've never been satisfied with those answers since I can buy cured sand shrimp at the same place I buy fresh sand shrimp. They come in pink and in orange. And they cost about the same too.

So what gives? It obvious that sand shrimp can be cured, so why can't anyone provide a method? I'm not sure but I remain optimistic the secret will be revealed someday.......

Have you tried the cured shrimp in the tubs cohoangler? There's a reason the same ones ae there from the last time you opened the door on the bait fridge.

There's a way to make them do okay for sometime listed in the Tips section of the site and you can add some plain egg cure to the saltwater and they'll hold even better.

Best thing to do with shrimp? Get some saltwater on top of some good shrimpies and change it every few days - keep them fairly cool ... they'll keep for weeks ;\)

What Bob said.

If anything, cure up some prawns or crawdad tails if you want some freezer bait.

Personally, if that sand shrimpie isn't fresh and lively, I don't want to use it.
